To access quality pediatric anesthesia related information straight from the "Horse's mouth" and to foster a long term relationship with the SPA team to enhance/enrich the pediatric anesthesia setting back home in my country.
I am a pediatric anesthesiologist, obviously passionate about it, currently doing a 20 year time jump. Right now in a mind blowing North American Pediatric Hospital and I look at life around me like a 6 year old- wide eyed and fascinated. This time travel from a resource limited pediatric setting to a futuristic setting has left me with my jaws dropping most of the time , shocked sometimes and almost always humbled.
The neonatal cry sounds the same, the beeping saturation probes are thankfully still the same, but what left me truly amazed, was the attitude behind the person holding the mask on the child was the same no matter which side of the globe they were from. Empathy is definitely a game changer in any pediatric anesthesiologist's life.
I did my pediatric anesthesia fellowship only to get over with my fears of anesthetizing a child ten years ago in India and over the last ten years, I have realized I have come closer to finding a purpose and meaning to life. With this one year international exposure, I see my goals and passions more clearly and know what I want for my patients and how I can go about achieving them.
I hope to make the best out of my association with SPA and look forward to contributing my bit to SPA as well.
