The Pediatric Anesthesia Leadership Council (PALC) was formed in 2009 as a section within the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia (SPA). It is composed of members who serve in pediatric anesthesia leadership positions within their institutions, typically as Division or Department Chiefs within major children’s hospitals, either traditional academic programs or private sector children’s facilities. The section was developed with the intent of creating a collaborative forum for leaders to share common experiences and to create opportunities for growth in leadership amongst its members. The mission is to enhance the quality and safety of pediatric perioperative care for children, and to promote and support the growth of future leaders of pediatric anesthesia.
