The Education Committee for the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia (SPA) is dedicated to providing the educational content for the Society. This includes:
- Content and speakers of the Annual Meeting
- Content and speakers of the SPA-AAP Pediatric Anesthesiology Meeting
- Other education resources for the SPA membership, via sub-committees
- MOCA Minute Collaboration with the American Board of Anesthesiology
- Collaboration with Open Anesthesia for virtual Grand Rounds, podcasts
- Intensive Review of Pediatric Anesthesia Lecture Series
The Education Committee has an executive team (EEC) that consists of members from the sub-societies within SPA to oversee the different aspects of the educational mission of SPA. Members of the EEC are:
- SPA President-Elect (Chair of EEC)
- SPA Secretary-Treasurer
- Vice-President of SPPM (or designee)
- Vice-President of CCAS (or designee)
- PALC President
- PAPDA Past President
- Chair of the ACCME subcommittee (or designee)
- SPA Education Committee Member at large
Through their work, the Education Committee is able to:
- Review meeting education content as needed. Possible areas include:
- Determining if there are speaker conflicts of interest that need to be addressed
- Overseeing/approving meeting format changes
- Approving meeting “tools” that are brought to the ECC for future use
- Developing tools to document meeting development process/content for the ACCME
- Reviewing suggestions for SPA International Scholar for final approval by the SPA Board of Directors
- Vetting and approving outside collaborations for development of Society education materials
