The authors make a strong case for changing the name Blalock-Taussig (B-T) shunt (or modified B-T shunt (MBTS) to the Blalock-Thomas-Taussig shunt or the modified Blalock-Thomas-Taussig shunt. The history of Vivien Thomas’s role as well as the anesthesiologists involved in the original “blue baby” (tetrology of fallot) is discussed and why changing the eponym matters.
